A special gathering of Canadian youth will be celebrated July 29 in Rome, part of the Jubilee of Youth organized as part of the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year celebrations, said to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Some 1,000 Canadian youth from across the country are expected at the Jubilee of Youth in Rome July 28-Aug. 3, where on July 29 at the Santa Andrea dell Valle Church Canadian youth will gather for the special ceremony.
The two-hour program will feature a a youth-led welcome, a bilingual proclamation of Scripture, witness panels from youth and bishops, multicultural musical praise, small group faith sharing and musical performances, concluding with a commissioning prayer and symbolic sending forth to encourage youth to continue their Jubilee pilgrimage with renewed purpose.
Several Canadian bishops will be present at the events, along with priests, deacons, religious sisters and brothers and lay leaders.
The Jubilee of Youth is bringing together thousands of young people from all corners of the world for a week of prayer, catechesis, cultural exchange and joyful witness, inviting young people to deepen their relationship with Christ.
